Iceberg Enterprises, LLC |
| Iceberg Enterprises, LLC used I-DEAS to design an easel system, and it won Structural Plastics 2005 New Product Design Competition in the Furniture category this year. Here are the details of the easel system:
By adapting a unique "flipper" on the mold design and precise timing in the blow molding process, both high-end Presentation (complete "A" frame with storage shelf) and mid-range Portable Easels provide integral pockets designed with a "downward" angle for marker retention to facilitate the flow of ink. The Presentation Easel includes a combination of a staggered tackoff pattern and unique "offset tackoffs" to form a large flat panel (70"X34.5") without metal support. A unique "3/4" moon integral hinge design eliminates mold cost and reduces assembly labor. One mold forms both the front and back panels, which are assembled to each other without any metal hardware. The Portable Easel combines blow and compress-moldings to retain metal legs and eliminate assembly hardware down to two Jack nuts. The Display Easel has a unique design feature: the top of each leg "snap-fits" the bottom of another leg to build the height of the easel, and another "tongue" feature underneath "snap-fits" the ring of the top cap without metal hardware and expensive tooling investment.
